Must know before booking: Lip Blushing

Before my appointment...
-
Permanent Lip Blush procedures normally requires one to two treatment sessions. For best results, clients will be required to return for re-touch appointment between 6-12 weeks. Please be aware that color intensity will be significantly brighter and bolder immediately after but will reduce by 40-60%.
-
History of cold sores needs to use an anti-viral medications 1000mg L-lysine or (Zovirax, Valtrex, Acyclovir) 5 days prior and 5 days post lip procedure to minimize the risk of an outbreak. Treatment cannot be performed if there is an active outbreak
-
Numbing cream is used during the procedure, sensitivity or discomfort may still be felt. Lips will be tender and swollen for a day or two.
-
Do not drink alcohol 24 hours prior to the treatment.
-
Although extremely rare, there might be an immediate or delayed allergic reaction to the pigment. Allergic reactions to anesthetic can occur. It is the client’s responsibility to schedule a patch test at least two weeks prior to the procedure.
-
No electrolysis for at least 5 days before the procedure
-
Hormone therapies can affect pigmentation and/or cause sensitivity
-
Fillers should be done 4 weeks prior to your procedure and/or 4 weeks after your procedure. (It’s best to receive fillers after completing the first and second of lip blush as it is more difficult for the artist to implant the pigment).
-
No sun, sweating or tanning prior to the procedure. If you are sunburned in the treatment area, we will not be able to perform the procedure.
-
Unless medically necessary, please avoid taking things that thin the blood like (fish oils, herbals, Vitamin E, Aspirin, Coumadin, Tylenol, Niacin, Ibuprofen) 48 hours prior to your procedure.
-
You must have written permission from your physician if you are taking Coumadin or Heparin.
-
You must be off of Retin-A, Retinol, or Retinoids for 7 days prior to your procedure and avoid using on or around the area for 30 days after. If used before 30 days, it can cause the pigments to fade prematurely.
-
You have to be off of Accutane for 1 year.
-
Avoid alcohol or caffeine prior to your procedure, this will minimize any oozing or swelling after the procedure.
-
Getting a procedure while on your menstrual cycle can make you hypersensitive at the procedure.
-
If lips are very dry, have blemishes, cold sores, irritation of the skin of any kind, moles or other skin imperfections in or around the area of the procedure, the procedure will be rescheduled until the cold sore or blemish is gone
After my appointment
-
Expect treated areas to be tender for the next few days. The procedure area may be swollen or have a discharge of interstitial fluid and blood for at least 12 hours post procedure. Gently dab off excess interstitial fluid from the procedure area with a clean tissue and distilled water or bottled water. Remember that you should wipe off the interstitial fluid to avoid getting a thick crust.
-
The procedure area will be much darker for 1-7 days post procedure. The true color will not be visible for 4 weeks post procedure and for each color refresher.
-

-
Do not lick your lips as it will cause the pigments to fall off.
-
Do not pick at the pigments scabbing off as it will cause scarring.
-
Do not touch the healing pigmented area with your fingers. Touching the treated area with your fingers, unclean cotton swabs, old products or other, may result in infection. If you need to touch the area, use a CLEAN cotton swab.

-
If you are a blood donor, you may NOT give blood for 1 year following your permanent makeup application according to Red Cross.

-
History of cold sores need to use an anti-viral medications 1000mg L-lysine or (Zovirax, Valtrex, Acyclovir) 5 days prior and 5 days post lip procedure to minimize the risk of an outbreak. Treatment cannot be performed if there is an active outbreak.
Healing Process...
-
DAY 1: It is very important to remove the interstitial fluid from the surface of the skin in order to avoid heavy scabbing. Right after the procedure clean the lips with (sterile water or distilled water) every hour throughout the day. Gently apply Aquaphor, Grapeseed oil or After-inked ointment before bed. Lips can bruise or be swollen after the procedure. Do not worry as the bruising and swelling will go away within hours.
-
DAY 2: The lips may be swollen the second day as well. Do not ice the lips and keep the lips moist at all times. Do NOT let the lips be dry.
-
DAY 3-7: Keep applying the ointment as needed. During the first week or even longer for some, there will be scabbing and pigments will slowly peel off (DO NOT PICK AT IT). Inner layer of your skin can take 4 weeks to heal and even longer for some.
-
NOTE: After the outer layer has fully healed and scabs have all peeled off, lips will be 40-60% lighter. Do not use creams that contain acids or ingredients that will lighten or exfoliate the skin.
-
TOUCH-UP: Recommended between 6-8 weeks so the true color will settle and minor touch-ups can be done. Touch-ups are not required if you are satisfied with the shade.
